Privacy Policy
The short version: the game has no accounts, and playing never requires an email address or other identifying information. We count anonymous round starts and completed rounds so we can tell whether the game is being used. We do not send your mode, case, answers, objection choices, score, level, or progress; those stay in your browser. If you choose to ask for our free guide, we receive the email address you type. We deliberately collect as little as practical.
1. What we don’t collect
Steadycase Courtroom Practice is a static website and a browser game. We do not require an account. Our analytics records an anonymous event when the first question of a round begins and another when the results screen appears. It does not receive the mode, difficulty, practice area, fictional case, answers, objection choices, score, level, or progress. Those details stay on your device. The one thing we ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to request our free guide; you can play every case, every mode, and every pack without giving us one. For website traffic and advertising measurement, see section 4.
2. What stays on your device
The game uses your browser’s local storage to remember, on your own device only:
- your last-used game settings (mode, difficulty, practice area);
- your lifetime score (XP) and level;
- whether you have seen the intro walkthrough and the one-time notice about the game being educational; and
- any pack unlock codes you enter, so packs stay unlocked on that device.
You can erase all of it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. If you do, the game simply starts fresh.
3. What is collected, and by whom
- Hosting (Cloudflare). Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) to serve and secure the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Fonts. The game and these pages self-host their typefaces (Lilita One, Karla, and Space Mono). Your browser does not request fonts from Google or any other third-party font host. After the first visit the service worker caches the font files for offline play.
- Analytics and advertising attribution. We use privacy-conscious website analytics, referral information, and campaign links to understand how people find the game, measure whether our outreach works, and improve the site. The analytics may process the page visited, referring site or campaign link, device or browser information, approximate location, signup or purchase events, and the anonymous events “Game Started” and “Round Completed.” We do not attach game settings, fictional case details, answers, objection choices, scores, levels, email addresses, or player identifiers to those game events.
- Email list (Kit). If you choose to give us your email for the free companion guide or product updates, Kit (ConvertKit, kit.com) processes your email address, opt-in status, tags or form-source information, and related email-delivery data. Kit asks you to confirm the address before anything is sent. We use that information for the guide, educational emails, and product updates, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every message. Entries are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, subject to any records we must retain. We do not sell or rent the list, and we do not attach your email address to the anonymous game events.
- Support email. If you contact [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. Please don’t send us details of a real legal matter — we cannot advise on it.
4. Analytics and advertising attribution
We use privacy-conscious website analytics to understand traffic, measure campaigns, and decide which outreach is useful. In addition to page visits, we count when a visitor begins the first question of a round and when a visitor reaches the results screen. These aggregate events tell us whether people start and finish rounds. They do not report what happened inside the round. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use contact information for ad targeting unless we first update this policy and obtain any consent required by law or platform rules.
5. Paid content packs
We offer optional paid content packs. Our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy, LLC, collects your email address, payment details, and billing country to process payment, calculate sales tax or VAT, and deliver the unlock-code PDF. We receive your email address and order details, not your payment card. See Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
6. Children
The game and this site are intended for law students, self-represented adults, and other adult learners, and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Your choices and rights
You can play the entire game without giving us any information. To remove everything the game has stored, clear this site’s data in your browser. If you have contacted support, you may request a copy or deletion of that correspondence at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy law.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date.
